• "A Rose By Any Other Name" is the Spring Summer 2025 collection from OIZA , focusing on identity, beauty and belonging told through the language of gardens. Drawing parallels between British and African gardening cultures, the collection translates the textures and rhythms of the natural world into clothing that feels simultaneously earthy and refined.

  • The influence of gardenwear runs through every silhouette. Apron shapes are reimagined in lace and satin, crochet panels grow organically into lace, and large scale floral motifs cut across the body in cotton jacquard. Natural materials throughout, cotton, linen, wool and suede, keep the collection rooted in the landscape it references. A 1905 painting of a Black gardener by British artist Harold Gilman anchors the palette, sandy and soft with quiet moments of deep pink that nod to the rose at the heart of the concept.

Shot at Culpeper Community Gardens in Islington, the collection was presented as a film that holds two opposing worlds in tension. The romantic and lush surroundings of the garden are met with a disjointedness inspired by the cinematic language of A Zone of Interest, pairing OIZA’s feminine and sensuous aesthetic with something altogether more unsettling. The film's soundtrack, composed by Hale Zero, offers cohesiveness by bridging the British and African cultures together through the blending of sounds heard in the two cultures’ natural landscapes.
