OIZA Special Project
BRIEF
Velvet drapes, patterned tile floors and warm golden tones set a stage that is reminiscent of a house party already in full swing.
In this period of Nigeria there was immense cultural confidence. Highlife was not simply a genre of music, it was a movement, one that spoke to brotherhood, female empowerment and a collective sense of identity that resonated far beyond West Africa. The sound and the style that emerged from this era carried a bravado that would go on to shape culture on a global scale, laying foundations that are still felt today.CREDITS
